I had the opportunity to curate and choreograph a dance concert involving children from the Salaam Bombay Foundation (SBF). The Foundation is a 15-year-old non-profit in Mumbai committed to empowering children growing up in Mumbai's slums with life and work skills so that they may make better decisions for their health, education and livelihood. SBF uses dance as an innovative tool of development. The 1-hour concert involved 8 children from the Dance Academy along with 8 of my friends from a more privileged background and we raised $15,000 so that more underprivileged children could avail of world-class taining at the Dance Academy, discover latent talent and look forward to careers they otherwise couldn't have dreamt of.
